Microneedling SkinPen has been a go-to treatment for aestheticians to help clients get smoother, more toned skin, but combining this procedure with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can bring even more dramatic results. The platelets are part of your body’s natural healing process and, when injected into the skin via microneedling, stimulate your skin to produce more collagen and heal existing cells. This results in the tighter, more radiant skin you’ve always wanted.
Treatment & Results
Microneedling treatments involve the area of skin being punctured with very tiny needles in multiple sites. It’s common to feel numb or like your skin is tingling, and you may have reddened skin for up to 2 days after treatment. This can usually be covered with makeup if it’s bothersome. Multiple treatments may be needed for best results, and these are normally spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. You should start to see results around a week after your procedure, but peak results may take longer as the PRP stimulates your body’s natural collagen production.
After a microneedling treatment, you can usually go right back to your usual activities. However, it’s important to avoid swimming, exercise (no sweating!), tanning beds, and sun exposure for 72 hours after your procedure. To help promote the healing process, use lukewarm water on your skin and only use a cleanser approved by your provider. You may also want to use a moisturizing serum to help combat the initial dryness that can occur.
If you’re dealing with dull skin that’s losing its elasticity, take the first step toward a younger, more radiant looking you. Find out more about microneedling with PRP and how it can help you reach your beauty goals
