Dermapeel/Hydraplane

If exposure to the elements has left your skin dull and dry, a dermaplaning treatment is a non-invasive, painless way to deeply exfoliate and reveal a brighter complexion. Dermaplaning treatments can also be combined with a light chemical peel, called the DermaPeel. This brings even more exfoliating benefits and penetrates the skin, which can help minimize the appearance of fine lines, sun spots, and pores even more.

Treatment & Results:

Dermaplaning treatments involve the practitioner using a scalpel at an angle on the skin to lightly scrape off the dead skin cells and fine vellus hair, commonly known as “peach fuzz.” The treatment time usually takes less than an hour, and results are immediate. Follow up treatments are recommended to be spaced at least a month apart — more if your skin is on the sensitive side.

Post Care:

Your fresh skin may be more sensitive after a dermaplaning treatment, so it’s important to be gentle with it and avoid sun exposure for the first few days. Your practitioner may recommend specific products for your skin care routine post-procedure as well. It’s best to avoid waxing or getting other skin care treatments for at least the first week.

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a means of mechanical exfoliation. A medical-grade tool is used to gently scrape along the top layer of skin to remove dead skin buildup as well as vellus hair (i.e. “peach fuzz”).

Will the hair grow back darker?

Nope! There is no way for vellus hair to turn darker and coarser without the use of medication. Most people don’t even realize their hair growing back and report no change in hair color or thickness.

I have acne, can I still get dermaplaning?

Unfortunately, we do not recommend dermaplaning for clients who are suffering from acne. Instead, we recommend a good home care regimen and a series of facials and/or chemical peels to control the acne. Once acne is under control you can then dermaplane the skin.

Can I receive dermaplaning while I’m pregnant and/or breastfeeding?

Yes! Dermaplaning the skin is one of our favorite treatments for pregnant or breastfeeding clients since it is a very gentle and mild form of exfoliation.

How long will the results last?

Most clients will see results for approximately 3-4 weeks. It takes the skin about 28 days to go through a skin cycle before you can receive a dermaplaning treatment again.

Does dermaplaning hurt?

Nope! Many clients associate the feel of dermaplaning to the feeling of rubbing a business card across the skin.
