Dermal Fillers

Dermal Fillers are one of the most commonly requested and popular treatments on the anti-ageing market. Find out all about the benefits of this procedure right here.

Dermal Fillers

The neck and decollate area can be one of the first to show signs of aging, especially from sun damage. This is because we often forget to extend sunscreen down the neck when we apply to the face, and this can lead to crepy, sagging skin over time. Radiesse, a dermal filler, can help tighten and tone this skin for a more youthful appearance that still looks natural. It works by stimulating collagen production for long-term results in addition to providing an immediately tighter, more sculpted look post-procedure.

Treatment & Results:

Radiesse treatment in the neck and chest area involves the provider first diluting the filler for the desired results. It’s then injected with a canula under the skin and acts as a biostimulant to encourage collagen production. At least two treatments are usually recommended, but you may need more depending on your skin and your goals. Treatments are spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, but once the desired look is achieved, results can last up to 2 years.

Post Care:

Swelling and tenderness at the injection site are common after this procedure, and some patients may experience light bruising. Your practitioner may recommend applying ice packs to the site or using an over-the-counter pain reliever. Avoid sun exposure and any strenuous activities for the first 24 hours or until the swelling and redness subsides.

Radiesse FAQs

Filler is an instant gratification procedure, however, it’s always recommended to wait 14 days before you see your optimal result as the filler needs time to settle into the skin.
Tips from the FDA regarding dermal fillers:
1. ALWAYS work with a licensed health care provider who uses properly labeled, sealed
vials for treatment. You also can ask to confirm that you are receiving an FDA-approved filler. And never get injectable fillers from unlicensed providers or in non-medical settings like hotels or private homes.
2. ALWAYS request and read the patient labeling information on FDA-approved injectable
wrinkle fillers from your licensed healthcare provider.
3. ALWAYS know the type of product to be injected and all of its possible side effects.
Know where each product used is to be injected. Talk to your licensed health care provider if you have any questions.
4. NEVER buy dermal fillers on the Internet. They may be fake, contaminated, and/or
harmful.
5. NEVER get any type of filler or liquid silicone injected for body contouring. This means
you should never get breast filler, “butt” fillers, or fillers for spaces between your muscles. These products, which include certain types of injectable silicone, can be dangerous and can cause serious injury and even death.

Since everyone is different, fillers metabolize differently in every person. Different types of fillers and the areas in which they are used will also determine how long they last. Typical Hyaluronic Acid fillers, like Juvederm, Restylane, and Versa, typically last anywhere from 6 months-1 year. Other types of fillers, like Sculptra and Radiesse, are bio-stimulating fillers that spur the production of your own body’s collagen and, therefore, last longer, typically around 1-2 years. All fillers are considered temporary and will need maintenance appointments to keep desired results.

Radiesse treatments are most often given in the skin surrounding the nose and mouth. Some people who choose this procedure want to fill in wrinkled areas in their hands. Injections are administered under the skin with a tiny needle. The ingredients in Radiesse are nontoxic, nonallergenic, and compatible with your body’s natural tissues.

Ideal candidates for Radiesse treatments are adults between the ages of 35 and 60 who have developed folds and wrinkles around their mouth and nose. Candidates who want the skin on their hands plumped are also ideal.

Dermal fillers that have been tested and regulated by the FDA are considered to be safe and effective, however, it is important to stress the importance of choosing a qualified cosmetic injector. Dermal fillers are considered to be safe but do come with increased risks. Common side effects of dermal fillers range from mild, including bruising, redness, swelling, discomfort and itching, to severe, including a vascular occlusion, scarring, or allergic reaction. A highly trained injector will know the safest way to inject dermal fillers to minimize these risks.

Unfortunately, it is contraindicated for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to
the lack of studies or adequate data associated with pregnant or
breastfeeding women.

Your cosmetic practitioner will conduct a thorough evaluation prior to receiving services and will be able to determine which dermal filler will be appropriate for your particular needs and desired results.
